A Career Shift I Didn’t See Coming
Last year, I set out on a mission to turn my administrative and bookkeeping experience into income.
I created an impressive résumé and sent it to businesses where I knew I could make a difference.
My résumé worked — I received calls and landed interviews.
But in those interviews, I could sense a subtle undercurrent of age discrimination.
As the months went on, I couldn’t pay my rent. A generous brother helped me more than he probably should have. That’s when I realized it was time for a pivot.
Caring Comes Full Circle
For ten years, I cared for my mother, helping her stay in her home instead of a nursing facility. It was her heart’s desire — and it was deeply fulfilling for me.
Now I wondered: Was there another woman out there who also wanted to remain in her home?
Someone who didn’t need constant physical care, just a safe and supportive presence?
I asked around — and within a day, I had a name.
Before I called, I prayed.
She and her family were open to the idea, and what began as an offer of help has turned into a wonderful fit for both of us.
Purpose Rediscovered
I’ve been able to help her live independently and find daily joy in her routines — gardening, caring for her home, and staying connected to the life she loves.
And I’ve discovered something too: this work gives me fulfillment.
The bonus? Time to write — and even dive into the daunting task of self-publishing on Amazon.
I now have two books published, and I’m finishing a third.

Because you’re not done yet. 💙
