Perfect Love Casts Out Fear

Fear is maybe your biggest obstacle to success in network marketing.

Is that true for you?

Fear is so prevalent that I have heard more than one motivational speaker ask, “If a board was placed across the distance between two city buildings, would you cross over?”

The answer for most is no.

Then the speaker says, “Now imagine that your child was on the other side and to protect your child you have to cross over. Would you do it then?”

That is not a good analogy for me. I would much rather make a phone call than deal with heights.

But it is a good introduction to my prayer and affirmation for this blog.

One of the best methods of overcoming fear is to do what you fear. I believe that is why Eleanor Roosevelt said that we should do one thing that scares us everyday. She understood that is the best cure for fear.

But what if you can’t overcome fear to even start doing what you fear?

That is when a prayer and affirmation is called for. 1 John 4:18 is the basis for your prayer and affirmation. Here is that verse in three different translations.

1 John 4:18New International Version (NIV)

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

1 John 4:18New Living Translation (NLT)

Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.

1 John 4:18 New King James Version (NKJV)

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

My understanding of this verse is that if we are experiencing God’s perfect love our fears will be cast out.

You can apply this understanding to every fear that you face.

What do you fear?

Here are some of our top fears:

  • Rejection
  • Heights
  • Spiders
  • Flying
  • Speaking in public
  • Failure
  • Ridicule
  • Dark
  • Death
  • Commitment
  • The Unknown
  • Picking up a phone and inviting family and friends to join us in a network marketing business

I googled what people fear to compile this list. The last item on my list wasn’t on any other lists. But it involves a fear of rejection, ridicule, failure and the unknown.

No wonder picking up that phone is so hard.

Here is how that verse helps me. When I find myself fearing to make a call, I think about who I will be calling. Why am I calling them? Is it because I need to rank advance or because when we were chatting last week my friend said she wants to find a way to earn extra income without committing to a job.

I care about my friend’s needs because I have God’s perfect love for her. Picking up the phone just got easier.

Suppose you have just been asked to introduce a top leader at your city’s big hotel event. You still stutter when you do a home meeting. You cannot imagine speaking in front of hundreds of people.

Then you think of your team and how inspiring it will be for them to see you at the front of the room. It will help them invite their friends and family.

Because you care about helping them build their businesses you agree to make the introduction. You start making calls and even though there is fear you also are feeling excitement and courage.

Maybe that will come on a daily basis when you use the following prayer and affirmation.

Father God in Heaven, You know my fears and my that my love seems to fail to cast out my fear. I want to fully experience Your love. I believe that as I do experience Your love that the fear will not rule my heart and actions. I thank You for the freedom that will come as I claim Your love that casts out fear. In Jesus name, Amen.

Perfect love casts out fear. I daily experience Christ’s perfect love. In His love, I am called to serve others. I serve others by reaching out in love to listen to them and learn of their needs. I serve them further by meeting their needs as I am able. That may mean praying for them or giving of my resources; but also I confidently share information they need to hear about my products and my business.

God bless you as you fearlessly serve others in His love.

When you reach my age you have heard a time or two, I want to be like her when I grow up. That is strange because first, I don't want to grow up and second, I am just figuring out who I am. I am an entrepreneur. I am having fun growing businesses from home while caring for my 90+ year old mom. Life is great!
