Are You Watching the Election Results
Are you hopeful for the future?
Or do you fear what this election will bring?
Is it hard to think about anything else tonight?
It is for me.
So I am going to speak optimism for our future.
First, politics is not as influential as we think they are.
Why do I say that? In the late 70’s and early 80’s I was very active in Colorado potitics.
Then life required that I focus on a job and my family and I dropped out of the political arena.
It was twenty years before I got involved again. This is what I observed. The speeches I heard sounded the same as what I had heard twenty years before. And I concluded that politics doesn’t change that much after all.
Second, and more importantly, “the powers that be are ordained of God.*”
I understand that truth from the Bible to mean that God has already chosen who will be the president.
I am guessing that you have strong feelings about this election and the choices we were given. You may say how can God choose either one of these candidates. Or when a winner is announced you may be dismayed at what God has not only allowed but chosen.
I share your dismay. The Bible verse I quoted was written to Christians in Rome during a time that government was not kind to Christians.
Do you agree with me that it is enough to know that God is in control even when it feels out of control? I hope so.
But I care about what you do think. Let me know at this link.
*Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
